Image captures

Inspired by the game "snakes and ladders", players will start the game on the ground level of a building, and may need to jump through slaps which will be moving either up or down to escape from the building. A teleportation device is provided on the top level to teleport away from the fired building.

Team members participation:
WIRADA - PARTICLES
- Fire effect
- sound effect

REBECCA - KISMET
- Teleportation
- Lighting effect
- Connecting beginning movie to the game

TERESA - MATINEE
- Moving slabs + interior space
- Creating "trailer" of the game

Rendering Model and Proposal

Proposal:In experiment 1, I explored some ideas about explosion and porosity. What I was trying to do in experiment 1 using Gmod was to observe explosion and porosity of several boxes in different environment conditions; an explosion on ground and explosion under water.
To apply these 2 ideas into experiment 2, I wanted to try and show the way that the explosions behaved in those 2 environmental conditions.

(Following are rendered image of 3 models)

Baseline Model:
The baseline model to me acts as one of the boxes before an explosion in experiment one, which it is intact.

X 28% Model :
In this Model X, I wanted to show the idea of explosion under water. When and explosion happened under the water, the objects(boxes explosion in experiment 1) which used to "stand still" in the water may broken into pieces and float from the bottom to the water surface.
I am required to cut out 28% of volume from the baselined model, and it's not a lot that i can cut out. so i have decided to create serveral curved extrude cuts, to show the movement that the broken pieces make during the process of floating from underneath to the top; The "path" that the broken pieces might go through in the water would not be a straight line.

Y 53% Model :
In Model Y, I aimed at showing an idea of explosion on ground, which there is an explosion point.
When an explosion take place on ground, a point existed as the start of an explosion.
In this model, I have set the explosion point at the bottom. the closer the area to the explosion point, the smaller pieces it's broken into. As shown in the model, the viods became larger at the top as the distance to the explosion point is longer.
It has also shows how an object(boxes explosion in experiment 1) exploded into pieces and the porosity of it; smaller pieces broken from the boxes are closer to the explosion point.

Calculation of X Y% Model

X: 100% Volume - 28% Volume = 87342 x (1-28%) = 62887

Y: 100% Volume - 53% Volume = 87342 x (1-53%) = 41051

DEFINATION
An explosion to me means a sudden outbreak and a release of energy.Porosity, in an explosion is the volumn of that released energy and how things are exploded. In other words, things may exploded into different level of porosity.

THE EXPERIMENT
The video that I have found shows an explosion in an open area. It displayed a huge porosity from small to large volumn. Combining the video found in week 1, I am interested in experimenting the level of explosion of objects on water and in water/liquid form.

HYPOTHESIS
If the level of porosity is depending on the "environment" during an explosion, The explosion in an open area should have a greater porosity than in a surrounded area, or inside liquid.

THE TEST
In the video that I created, I have set 2 explosions in 2 different situations. The first one was a set of boxes set on water and exploded by several barrels; the second one was the same amount of boxes and barrels set under the water and present and explosion. The aims was to observe the difference of same amount of object explode in different enviroments.

OUTCOME
The 2 explosions has shown that my hypothesis is true that the explosion under the water has a smaller porosity, that it has a smaller volumn released. That is when things exploded into pieces, they only exploded to a certain distance from the explosion point.

Documentary

To product the explosion video, I have chosen Expository Documentary.
I chose this documentary mode because I think this mode is the most direct way to use in order to product my video. Besides, it conducts me how to present my idea and concept.

Expository Documentary mainly defined as:
-The documentary film addresses the idea or concept to viewers with titles or voice.
-The illustration by words or voice combining the video shows the idea or argument of the filmmaker's clearly.

week 2 task

The short clip created based on the clip found in the previous week, which shown several ideas about explosion of boxes.

The video that I have created has captures an explosion of boxes on water at 3 different views. This experiment has sort of given me an idea of "explosion" in GMod.

Week 1 - Explosion

Video source from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbGtN26jY6c (Accessed: 31/7/08)
Created by: Jeremy Judkins

The video has shown an idea of explosion, which several boxes were placed on the same spot and when they were shot, the boxes “spring” to their natural state.

This video interested me since I like the idea of how an “explosion” is performed; looks like there is only one object and multiple objects exist in an explosion. Moreover, I like the way it shown how the boxes “behave” when they were explored on different texture such as on water and under the sea.
